I had a few minutes today where we had a break from school and I could try-on a few things from my recent order at Wal-Mart. I ordered these items to try based on the great reviews from other customers - so let's see if I agree!
First up is this Striped Cardigan Sweater Dress. It's only $35 and comes in 2 different colors. You could style this so many ways! Open over a tee and jeans, layered with a solid dress underneath, leggings and a tank, and then on it's own (like I'm wearing it here) and you could add a scarf, belt, hat or jacket!
Next I tried this Animal Print Midi Dress. This also comes in 2 colors and is on sale for only $25. The fabric is so comfortable and the print is fun. It reminds me of a much more expensive version right now at Anthropologie! I was shocked at how well this knit dress fit wearing no shaping undergarments (I never wear them - but thought I should mention I wouldn't need to with this one!)
I also grabbed this Belted Robe Sweater to try layered over the animal print dress. I ordered in my normal size (26/28) and it is far too big in the arms and long! It comes in 3 colors and seems to be good quality (heavy/warm( - so if you are thinking about trying this one, maybe considering sizing down! This would work very well for taller ladies!
I grabbed this Cable Knit Sweater Dress and it is SO good! It's only $30 and comes in 3 colors. I had a hard time deciding what color to originally order, and I might go back and order another color to try before I decide which one to keep. I tend to wear these types of dresses in the fall and winter with leggings and boots or mules. You could belt it, wear a hat, wear it with a plaid scarf, layer it under a jean jacket - there are countless styling options! The cable detail of the dress lands in all the right places - especially for a plus size body. The leggings I'm wearing can be found here (I wear size XL) - they are my favorite.
This next colorblocked cardigan I tried, I had very little hope for. Usually, when I order things out of the straight size section - at the top of the sizing range (XXXL in this case) it still runs too small. However, this one fit well and was really cute and comfortable - especially under $20. It's available in 4 colors (2 striped versions and 2 solid color versions). It reminded me of this Madewell Cardigan that I've had my eye on - so to find this one for 80% less than the Madewell one, I'm calling it a score! My favorite white tee that I'm wearing can be found here - I'm wearing in size XL.
I have been looking for a mustard yellow sweater to wear this fall. I grabbed this balloon sleeve bobble sweater in the color Chai Tea (it also comes in 2 additional colors as well!) Overall, I'd say the fit runs TTS with the arms and torso fitting me well. My only hesitation - and this is true with SO MANY tops anymore, is the drop seam on the shoulder. Thanks to the bobbles, I think I can look past that this time because it's just so darn cute!
And last, but not least, is this Puff Sleeve Sweatshirt. It comes in 6 colors and is offered in sizes 0x-5x. I ordered my normal 3x. I didn't end up liking how the arms of the sweatshirt fit my arms, so it will go back - but I have narrowed down what to look for in a gold sweatshirt for this fall/winter!
That's it for this second mini try-on. If you missed my first one, check it out here. And stay tuned for a comfy/athletic wear try-on with a few new items I got in from Athleta and Nordstrom - hopefully coming tomorrow!
