New Fall Plus Size Try-On: Part 1

Fall Style ORMFall21 Plus Size Shopping Plus Size Style Size Inclusive

If you've been following along over on my Instagram account, you know I've recently placed BIG orders of new fall items that are starting to come out (online only for the most part) in Plus Sizes.  I plan to have many parts to this series to provide you my full reviews and thoughts on each item ordered.  I am trying everything on straight out of the shipping bag/box - you'll see I didn't bother with makeup or anything else in this initial try-on.  For the items that are "keepers" - I will come back in a few weeks and style them into outfits!

Before we get started - a quick rundown of my measurements so you can compare for sizing info.  I'm 5'4" / Inseam is 28 inches / Bust 51 inches / Waist 48 inches / Hips 62 inches.  I generally wear a 24/26 or 3x/4x - but this can vary based on brand.  I wear a 46DD bra and my shoe size is size 10.  I fall between regular width and wide width for shoes.

Let's get started!

Called a swing dress - this is more like a house dress.  No pockets, no lining, but a cute small plaid print with burgundy, moss green, rust orange and gold.  I ordered both the 3x and 4x and I'm wearing the 3x here.  There was still plenty of room in the body, but for me, the elastic arms were too tight in either option.  The neck/chest runs generous as well - so keep that in mind when ordering.  Available in straight and plus sizes.
I ordered this button front cable weave cardigan in a 3x and a 4x.  The 3x worked just fine, but if I wanted room to layer or have it buttoned, I needed the 4x.  It comes in 5 colors.  It is available in straight and plus sizes.  The soft tan tote is a great size.  For most people, it would clear the arm just fine!  Because my arms are bigger, I prefer a longer strap than this.
It comes in at least 5 colors and is under $40!
These jogger pants are the prettiest color of orange (they appear a bit redder in the photos than they are in real life).  The 3x fit well on me at the waist and calves, but felt more like a legging in fit.  The 4x ran large at the waist and calves on me, but felt like a true jogger everywhere else.  If you have average size legs for your build, I think you'd be able to size down to your smaller size in these.  Available in Plus Size and Straight Size.
A classic black and white striped crew neck tee can be hard to find in plus size.  I'm wearing this in a 4x for an oversized feel.  At 5'4" it could work with leggings because it would still cover my backside if it weren't tied up.  It will work great to wear on it's own or underneath something to provide a bit of interest to my outfits later this fall.  Less than $20 and available in straight and plus sizes.
Oh this print... this print is so dang good!  Let's start with the dress.  I'm wearing it in a 3x, the 4x was much too big.  It has a smocked top and seam under the bust and then flows out from there.  I still had plenty of room in the skirt area thanks to how it was cut, even in the 3x.  This is available in straight and plus sizes and also comes in solid colors for under $50. Only downside, no pockets.
Then the longer cardigan is a nice and thick, but not bulky, option for fall.  It comes in 5 colors and is available in straight or plus sizes.  Because I want to layer in the fall and need the extra room in the arms, I sized up in this to the 4x.
This is the same blouse in 2 different prints (there is a third print as well that I didn't order).  The darker print on the right is the same as the dress above.  I ordered both the 3x and 4x in these and easily needed the 3x (the 4x was huge!).  The 3x fit around my hips but didn't leave me swimming in fabric up top.  The arm holes were a little low, but nothing that a tank or cardigan wouldn't fix.  These will be perfect to layer in fall under utility jackets, denim jackets, cardigans and even blazers. Under $30 and available in straight and plus sizes. Highly recommend!
Oh wide leg jeans... how I want to be done searching for you!  Unfortunately for me, these aren't it - but they could be for you! Because my inseam is only 28", these hit right at the top of my foot.  They are intended to be cropped.  I was hoping they would either look cropped or the online measurements would be off and they'd be long and I could wear them with taller clogs/mules this fall.  SO - if you are shorter than 5'4" OR your inseam is 26" and below or you're taller with a 30" and above inseam for a cropped look, these could be the pair for you!  They are under $30, amazingly stretchy but still heavy duty at the same time, and a great understated wide leg jean. I'm wearing the 24 here (smaller size of my 2).
Platform shoes are bringing me BACK!  These are canvas and oh so cute with the gold detail.  They are reasonably comfortable, although very flat (no extra support).  Although the platform looks large in the picture, they did not seem large and still looked good on my size 10 feet.  I was comfortable in the 10 and would not need them to be any wider (I'm always between).  They are on sale right now for under $45, normally $70.
I feel like you are either a camo person, or you're not.  I keep trying, but just can't make myself do it.  However, I know many of you LOVE it!  These joggers are the same as the orange ones pictured above, just in a different color AND this tee is only $6!  If you're a camo fan, they might be work checking out.
Printed pants can be polarizing among women I think.  You're either team printed pant, or you're not.  Having been plus size most of my life, this is one of the items I have felt like I couldn't wear because of my size and the ridiculous rules we're taught growing up (never wear horizontal stripes (false), dark colors look better (false), wear only solids on the bottom... (probably false!)
I think these would be adorable styled with white sneakers and a denim jean jacket OR clogs/square heel shoes and a long cardigan with coordinating long necklace.  The 4x were far too big (which is usually never the case in this style of pant) so for sure plan to size down.  The pants are a cotton/linen blend so would work well for those of you that will still have warm weather for awhile.
And last but not least is this cream and gray striped sweatshirt that has a cozy fleece lining and comes in straight sizes and plus sizes.  I'm wearing the sweatshirt in a 4x here and think it runs a bit small.  These white leather sneakers are my front runners for sneaker options at the moment (I ordered 4 pairs, so we'll see).  They are all leather (not canvas) so very wipeable.  Extremely soft and comfortable (I anticipate little to no break-in period) and are all white.  The only downside is that the tongue is sewn in and is all one piece, so it needs to flap/fold over when you tie.  I can't quite figure it out, but they are cute enough and comfortable enough that I'm motivated to try! They are on sale for $50 right now, normally $100 and come in multiple colors.

I'll be back in the coming days and weeks with additional reviews and fall try-ons.  Thank you in advance for shopping through my links.  Each time you do, I earn a (very) small commission.  This allows me to continue doing these unsponsored / unfiltered reviews for you of clothes and other items we're all interested in! If you'd like to view the video try-on of any of these items, head here to watch on IGTV.
