For this week's #ORMStyleMeSunday post, the entry that was randomly selected to style was a kimono. I feel like kimonos can be a hot or cold style choice for women. Often I hear "it feels like a robe" or "I could never wear that in public. I don't feel put together". And frankly, depending on how a kimono is styled, I agree with those comments. But that does not mean we can't rock a kimono, even as a plus size person. This is just an example of when accessories and styling makes all the difference.
There are many reasons to try wearing a kimono: Instant wow factor to an otherwise basic outfit. It's a versatile piece that can be dressed up or down. It adds a fun punch of color and/or pattern to your wardrobe without needing to mix up or change your closet staples. And my personal favorite, it allows me to layer in the warm summer months without adding bulk or heat to an outfit!
I'll describe below 3 different ways you could style a kimono for everyday wear. The visual I created for this week shows the "middle of the road" option. All sources linked are size inclusive and I've found 6 different kimono options for you to consider!
Let's get started!
Dressed up option: A black tank or sheath dress, headband, gold hoops and black espadrilles.
